GUBA-KHACHMAZ ECONOMIC-GEOGRAPHICAL REGION
This economic and geographical region includes administrative regions of Sheki, Quba, Qusar, Shabran and Siyazan. It is situated in the north-eastern slopes of the Major Caucasus, between Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian Sea, on the line of the watershed. The area is 6.96 km2 and covers 8.0% of the country. The main relief forms include the Caucasus Mountains, the side chain, inclined plain of Qusar, Shollar plain and Samur-Davachi lowland. The population of the economic region is estimated at 505, 4 of people, including 170, 9 of urban population and 334, 5 of rural population. The 5, 5% of the population live there. Oil, natural gas, shale, sand gravel, clay are major natural resources. The economic region has a dense river network and abundant water resources. The 10-11% of the area is covered by forests. Nabran-Yalama is the recreation zone. The agriculture is specialized in the production of vegetables and fruits. The oil and gas extraction (Siazan) is the basis of heavy industry of this region.
